"It was announced today that Australian pop sensation Cody Simpson has been cast as Peter Parker / Spiderman in the latest incarnation of the Spiderman series, The Amazing Spiderman. Simpson will be replacing Andrew Garfield, who is unable to participate due to a scheduling conflict. Simpson will star alongside Emma Stone as Peter Parker’s love interest, Gwen Stacy, and Martin Sheen as beloved Uncle Ben Parker.
Simpson stated, “I am so super excited to be playing the next Spiderman! I have always been a huge fan, so this is a dream come true. I’m really the luckiest guy in the world!”
The Columbia Pictures film is currently in production and has a planned July 3, 2012 release date."
